Asian Association of Police Studies
The 5th annual meeting of the AAPS will be held at Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, Texas, U.S.A. from August 8 through August 12, 2004. The theme for the conference this year is “Policing the world: Asian perspectives.” We welcome papers introducing the criminal justice systems and discussing issues related to individual countries and regions. In addition, invited speakers representing various Asian countries will introduce important aspects of their criminal justice systems at special sessions during the conference.
These panels will be invaluable for faculty who teach comparative criminal justice systems. They also provide a rare opportunity for criminal justice professionals whose work involves cross-cultural interactions with counterparts in the international arena. Papers submitted for the conference will be considered for publication in the AAPS Journal “Asian Policing.”
The conference will be held at the Dan Beto Criminal Justice Center, Huntsville, Texas, 77341. Huntsville is located 60 miles north of Houston, TX and is serviced by two major airports: George Bush Intercontinental Airport and Houston Hobby Airport. Arrangements will be made to pick up participants on Saturday, August 7 and Sunday, August 8. During the conference there will be a shuttle service provided until 9:00 pm each night. Local transportation will be provided by the conference.
The conference registration fee of $125 ($50 for students) includes admission to all sessions, two luncheons, three continental breakfasts, two dinners, and the welcome reception, and all conference materials.
A block rooms has been reserved for conference participants at the University Hotel adjacent to the Criminal Justice Center (936-291-2151). Rates for the University Hotel are $40 single rate, $60 double rate each night. Overflow hotel accommodations will be made as necessary.
